Your First Day on Campus - Shigaku Wiki
Everything a new student needs: spawn priorities, keybinds, where to go, and how to avoid rookie mistakes during your opening week.
Overview
Shigaku drops you onto a Japanese high school campus with no quest markers and no tutorial pop-ups. This guide walks your literal first hour: picking a look worth keeping, learning the five keybinds that matter, and finding your footing among classmates who may — or may not — want to fight you the moment you spawn. By the end you will know where the gym, courts, and classrooms are, and what to do with your first free codes.
Your First Hour, Step by Step
The game never tells you what to do first, so most new players wander. Follow this order instead: redeem rewards before touching anything else, sort your appearance second, and only then explore. Each step below takes two to five minutes and pays off for the rest of your time on campus.
Save this page — the spawn routine below is the same after every server hop, so it doubles as a checklist for your first week.
Spawn and open the menu
Click the menu button or press R to open the menu below the chat window. Everything you need — settings, codes, customization — lives behind this panel.
Join the Roblox group
Several working codes require group membership before they redeem. One click on the group page unlocks every group-gated reward, so do it now rather than after a failed redeem.
Redeem every active code
Head to Settings → Codes and enter each code from our codes list. Launch codes currently hand out 25 rerolls each — a starter pile big enough to cover several face and kit changes.
Reroll your look
Spend rerolls until your character's appearance and fighting kit feel right. New hair, new surname, new style — this is what the currency is for, and sitting through class is more fun when you like who you are.
Walk the campus loop
Circle the map once: classrooms, basketball courts, gym, and courtyard. Knowing these landmarks early means faster navigation and quicker escapes when a fight finds you.
Watch a Full First-Day Run
Prefer seeing the campus before stepping in? This first-day gameplay run shows the spawn area, the map at night, and an unscripted first fight — a realistic preview of what your opening minutes look like, jumps and all.
The Five Controls That Matter
Shigaku supports PC, mobile, and console, but the keyboard binds are the fastest way to play. Memorize these five first; everything else can wait until week two. When you are ready for the complete picture, the full controls and keybinds reference covers every verified input beyond these five — blocking, criticals, and the dash included.
T — Fighting Style
Equips your current fighting style. Without it you swing bare fists, which rarely ends well against anyone who read this guide.
Ctrl — Phone
Opens your in-game phone. Useful for checking the map, messages, and social features between classes.
C — Carry
Picks up another student. Peaceful schools ignore this button; chaotic ones build entire roleplay storylines around it.
G — Grip
Finishes a grapple. Combined with Carry it creates the locker-stuffing combo every trailer shows off.
K — Emote Wheel
Opens emotes. The fastest way to make friends — or taunt someone right before a fight goes badly for you.
What Kind of Game Is This?
Shigaku is a slice-of-life Japanese school roleplay experience with a fighting layer on top. You attend classes, hang out on the courts, and roleplay student life — but any two students can settle disputes with fists at any time. Think of it as a social campus simulator first and a fighting game second.
The game sits in a family of school-life Roblox titles alongside Gakuran and Rintama High, and it borrows the same core loop: spawn, customize, socialize, fight, repeat. If you enjoyed those, the campus will feel familiar within minutes — our comparison guide covers the differences in depth.
First-Week Priorities
Once the first hour is done, these goals keep early progress moving. They are ordered by payoff per minute, not by any in-game structure.
| Priority | Goal | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Redeem all codes | Up to 100+ free rerolls before spending anything |
| 2 | Learn the five keybinds | Fights, phones, and emotes all flow from muscle memory |
| 3 | Tour the campus | Gym, courts, and classrooms are where everything happens |
| 4 | Make one friend | Roleplay is the actual game; allies make it click |
| 5 | Win one fight | Confidence to hold your ground when jumped |
Common Rookie Mistakes
Every new student makes at least two of these. Skimming this list saves you the rerolls — and the embarrassment.
- Ignoring the group join step, then wondering why codes fail to redeem
- Manually re-rolling appearance before claiming free code rerolls
- Starting a fight without pressing T to equip a fighting style
- Wandering the map at 3 a.m. in-game expecting a well-lit campus
- Skipping the Discord server where new codes appear hours earlier
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Shigaku free to play?
Yes. It is a standard free Roblox experience with optional in-game purchases. Every gameplay-relevant boost, including rerolls, is obtainable free via codes.
Does it work on mobile and console?
The official description confirms mobile, console, and PC support. Controls adapt per platform, though keyboard binds remain the quickest on PC.
How many players per server?
Servers cap at 30 students. That is small enough to learn faces and rivalries, which is exactly the point of a campus social game.
Do I need to join the Roblox group?
Not to play, but several codes require group membership before they redeem. Joining takes one click and costs nothing.
What do rerolls actually change?
They re-roll your character's appearance and fighting-related customization: hair, face, surname, and kit options. Treat them as the game's core customization currency.
Can I play peacefully without fighting?
Absolutely. Classes, basketball, drums, and roleplay fill the day. Fighting is opt-in — though other students may not always extend you the same courtesy.
Is there a Discord server?
Yes, and it is the first place codes and patch notes land. Our Discord guide covers the channels worth joining.
How is this different from Gakuran?
Same genre, newer campus, its own meta. The short version: Shigaku runs cleaner on mobile and updates faster — details in our comparison article.
